Turbo rim blades sit between a silent continuous rim and an aggressive segmented rim. The serrated turbo slots dump slurry faster than a solid rim, so granite slabs can be ripped at a higher feed on a bridge saw without the overheating that glazes a closed rim. Edge finish is usually cleaner than a wide-gullet segmented blade, but it is not as glass-smooth as a true continuous rim used for porcelain or finish cuts.
Fab shops that cut a lot of mid-hardness granite and need both speed and a usable edge often standardize on turbo rims for breakdown cuts, then finish with a polishing sequence. Importers should not sell the same turbo SKU as a tile blade; porcelain wants a continuous rim and lower peripheral speed.
If a distributor also sells marble and engineered quartz, ask for separate turbo and continuous-rim codes. Protec Tools can laser-weld or sinter the rim to the steel core according to diameter and duty cycle. Send typical slab thickness and saw brand when you request samples so the segment height and turbo pattern are not copied from an unrelated tile blade.
A short sample-cut video on the customer granite is still the cheapest way to confirm speed versus chipping before a bulk order.
