Wet cutting is the simplest way to keep silica dust down and keep diamond tools cooler on the jobsite.
Silica dust from concrete and masonry cutting is a health and compliance risk. Pairing the right diamond blade with a controlled water feed keeps dust down and extends segment life. Protec Tools recommends wet cutting whenever the material and site rules allow it.
Jobsite Wet-Cutting Checklist
- Use a continuous water feed aimed at the cut line, not a random spray
- Choose a bond suited to wet concrete or masonry work
- Keep slurry managed so sludge does not re-cut the kerf
- Match blade diameter and RPM to the saw plate rating
For tunnels, occupied buildings, or OSHA-sensitive sites, combine wet cutting with vacuum shrouds when required. Distributors can request Protec Tools wet-cut sample reports when specifying blades for silica-controlled scopes.
