Dry cutting with diamond blades and cup wheels is common on retrofit jobs where water is restricted, but it produces respirable crystalline silica. Tool selection does not replace engineering controls. A well-made blade that cuts faster can actually raise the dust cloud if the operator leans on the tool without a shroud and vac. Buyers who sell into the US and EU should treat dust control as part of the product story, not an afterthought.

Controls that belong next to the SKU

Pair dry-cut blades and cup wheels with a shroud that fits the guard and a vac rated for silica. Train operators to keep the shroud on the surface and to replace clogged filters. If the spec allows water, wet cutting remains the simpler way to knock down dust on outdoor concrete sawing.

Specify shroud-compatible cup wheels and blade guards in the RFQ.
Do not market a dry blade as dust free; market it as compatible with extraction.
Reserve dry cutting for indoor or freeze conditions where water is impractical.
Keep spare vac filters in the same shipment as consumable wheels when possible.
